On February 1, 1942, four friends, Champaklal H. Choksey, Chimanlal N. Choksi, Suryakant C. Dani, and Arvind R. Vakil, got together to manufacture paint in a garage in Bombay (erstwhile Mumbai), Maharashtra, and named their company ‘The Asian Oil & Paint Company’.
The company recorded a turnover of Rs. 0.35 million in 1945 by focusing on innovative marketing strategies and by rapidly expanding into India’s interior areas within a very short span of time (1942-1945)..
